I MAKE Workshop is a collaborative workshop series tailor-made for The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design (SD) 'Creative use of 3D Printing technologies' event. Participants (local secondary school students) will learn the basic Blender Modeling for 3D printing.

Create the petal's basic form
Create a UV Sphere, then apply Rotation and Scale to construct the basic form

Create Lattice & build Parenting
Create a Lattice to cover the entire petal mesh. Inside the Lattice's Property dialogue box, create sufficient subdivision

Setup the Parenting hierarchy and make sure the Lattice is the parent

Sculpt the shape of petal
Select the Lattice and switch to Edit Mode

You could confirm the deformation by clicking 'Apply' Lattice Modifier under the Property dialogue box.
You could delete the Parenting hierarchy afterwards

Prepare for the Array Modifier
Assign new Origin to the petal (for duplicated petals to share a common origin point)
Assign new Origin to the petal (for duplicated petals to share a common origin point)
Create an Empty 'Plain Axes' at the Origin of the petal (for the array offset in later stage) and
Apply new Transformation readings to set all values to defaults (for easy alignment in the array operation)

Apply Array Modifier
Inside the Properties Panel, add the Array modifier.
Set Array Type to "Fixed Count" and choose the "Plain Axes" to perform "Object Offset". Rotate the Plain Axes to see the duplicated petals spread around the Origin point. Reset the "Relative Offset" to 0,0,0 so new petals line up in same level alike the picture underneath
